Factory acceptance testing, commonly called FAT, is a verification process conducted before equipment or an assembled system is delivered to its final installation site.
Depending on the project, testing may evaluate hardware functionality, software configurations, control systems, network-related capabilities, or compliance with defined technical requirements.
FAT is more common for complex or specially configured systems than for ordinary off-the-shelf guest room appliances. The objective is to identify problems before equipment arrives at the hotel, when corrections may be easier to make and less disruptive to the construction schedule.
Installation places equipment into service, while commissioning verifies that the completed system performs as intended.
Mock-up guestrooms allow hotels to verify equipment placement, functionality, and design before large-scale installation.
Portfolio accessibility standards help hotel groups manage technology consistently while accommodating property-specific requirements.
