The Hotpoint AHHS09D2XXA Packaged Terminal Air Conditioner (PTAC) Heat Pump is a commercial through-the-wall heating and cooling system designed for hotels, motels, extended-stay properties, senior living communities, and other individually conditioned spaces. Operating on 230/208V, single-phase electrical service with a 15-amp configuration, this 9,000 BTU-class unit delivers 9,400 BTU/h of cooling at 230V and 9,200 BTU/h at 208V, alongside 8,400/8,100 BTU/h of reverse-cycle heat-pump heating. A 2.5 kW electric resistance backup heater provides supplemental heating when heat-pump operation is insufficient or unavailable.

Unlike PTACs that depend exclusively on electric resistance heating, the AHHS09D2XXA uses a fixed-speed rotary compressor and reverse-cycle refrigeration system to deliver primary heating under suitable outdoor conditions. With published cooling efficiency ratings of 11.3 EER at 230V and 11.4 EER at 208V, together with a 3.3 coefficient of performance (COP) for heat-pump heating, the system offers an efficient alternative to conventional electric-heat-only equipment. Automatic emergency heat supports the transition to resistance heating when outdoor conditions require it.

The AHHS09D2XXA incorporates hospitality-focused features, including two selectable fan speeds, four temperature-limiting options, a streamlined coverless electronic control panel, and an automatically dimming LED display. Additional functions include Freeze Sentinel protection, automatic indoor frost control, overheat protection, automatic power recovery, self-diagnostics, SmartFan fan cycling, and constant-fan operation.
